What is HD-TVI CCTV?
In a nutshell HD-TVI (High Definition Transport Video Interface) is a breaking edge technology allowing the transmission of uncompressed high definition video to be sent over standard coaxial cable. There is virtually no delay for live viewing, so coupled with more efficient storage algorithms, this technology really could be the best thing since sliced bread.
HD-TVI truly is a CCTV installers dream. Because this technology uses standard coaxial cable, in most situations there would be no need to re-cable and you can simply shift to HD with the existing infrastructure. Where sites have already been cabled in CAT5e or CAT6e you can still use this technology with the simple use of HD Baluns.
HD-TVI does not have the same cable limitations as HD-SDI and has been tested at 1500 feet with standard coax. We have also heard reports that there is very little quality loss on similar distances using CAT5 or CAT6 – although we have not personally witnessed this in action.
Most HD-TVI Recorders we have seen in the market are known as “Tribrid” – meaning that along with HD-TVI you can also connect any existing standard analogue cameras and up to two IP cameras as well!
This technology is available from most good CCTV Distributors and wholesalers and is extremely good value for money compared to HD IP systems.
We have configured many of these systems for remote access for our clients and the results have been fantastic. The image quality on Web Browsers, iPhones, iPads and Android devices is amazing, and there is also a plug-in for the Mac Safari browser.
This is the ideal time to contact all of your existing customers and offer them an upgrade to full 1080p HD that won’t break the bank.
Good Luck
